Our thought today comes from Frederick Douglas, the noted
African American former slave who became a leader of the Abolitionist Movement:
“Those who profess to favor
freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up
the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning.”
Making waves leads to change. Maturity pursues change that
is begged for. Doing nothing leads to nothing. Civility is one thing; placid
acceptance of the status quo is quite another. Stand up. Speak up. Act up.
Dare to make a difference.
