Getting Along
A quote this morning from Robert Reich, an economist and
former Labor Secretary for President Clinton.
He stated:
“The best way to learn anything
is to talk to people who disagree with you. That’s harder and harder to do in a
polarized society because those who disagree have been living inside their own
bubbles and they tend to argue not with logic or fact but with slogans they've heard repeatedly.”
While arguing in that fashion they cannot resist pushing
other peoples’ buttons. Soon it is an argument rather than a discussion. Not
much is learned in an argument. I've learned that the hard way just recently;
passion and anger do not mix. Frustration; ah, now that’s another topic!
