Mistaken Identities

Ever wonder what someone’s life is like? You know, the person walking down the street, man or woman, somehow attracting your attention by his/her gait, or attire? Or maybe it’s the time of day you spot her/him; an odd time to your reckoning? Or the weather conditions? Why would they be out and about in this heat/cold/gloom?

Or maybe the motorist next to you waiting for the light to change? What’s his story? Why is he so glum, or passive? Or gruff looking?

Maybe it’s the kid crossing bravely the highway intersection with his skateboard and little sister in tow? Why are they out alone at this time of day in this heavy traffic? Where are they going and why?

Stories all for each of them. Stories that parallel or mirror our own probably.

Is one of them worried about a job they have that they don’t like? Or a homework assignment that is coming due and they haven’t even started on it yet? Or a test looming and preparation is poor?

Or maybe they are pondering the date that is coming soon, the one that promises an explosive relationship ~ well the possibility of it maybe! Will this be the one that will somehow complete my life; and if that’s even remotely true, how will he/she complete me? What does that term really mean?

The light turns green and traffic edges forward. Maybe not; why aren’t the cars moving sooner/faster? Why do we continue to wait? Don’t the other drivers want to get to where they are headed? Or not?

Their stories are many. Like mine or yours. What are they like. Would we like to be part of them? Or are we already?

Think about that until I return tomorrow.
