Focus on Solutions

Let’s see the Congress hasn't put forth any solutions to any national problem recently. Plus several enormous problems have existed for quite some years and still no action from Congress. That leaves others to suggest solutions.

Leaders lead, of course, and the President has stepped forward to proffer solutions. With bipartisan involvement and discussions, solutions are crafted and then suggested legislation is submitted to enact the joint solutions.

But wait! Suddenly Congress comes alive and turns down the legislation for any number of reasons. Of course the faults have all been discussed by the bi-partisans involved in the first place. Rather than suggesting a different approach in Congress, the naysayers block the legislation. No new ideas. No offers to help the process. Just blockage.

That’s John Boehner’s leadership. Blockage.

Then, after 6 years of patience, President Obama begins to use his executive power privileges. And Boehner and the republicans sue the President for using his powers. Just like George W. Bush used executive powers granted him in the Constitution.  Bush, however, didn't ask Congress for legislation, he merely instituted his solutions via executive order. No one sued him. No Democrats stepped forward to warn President Bush not to use his executive powers. No, but turn the table and the republicans play the impish brat. And of course drag attention away from solving problems while playing political games.

President Obama has steadfastly refused to use executive powers to sidestep Congress. He stated his purpose for doing so: to encourage congressional leaders to solve these problems for the long haul rather than short term patching by the President.  Makes sense to me. It also encourages everyone to take responsibility for solving our problems.

But no. Congress has not done their job. So, now the President steps up to the plate and will do the work of Congress. Shame on them; praise for him!

But Boehner sues. Just like the republicans sued Clinton over and over again until Hillary and Bill exited the White House after 8 years of doing the people’s business but saddled with partisan lawsuits totaling $16 million in legal fees.

Shame on republicans. Kudos for Democrats.

The pendulum seems to be swinging the same game. Let’s hope the Obama’s don’t leave the White House with legal debts like the Clinton's.

PoliticalLoudmouth.com offers this quote:

“If people in another country had been sabotaging our government the way the GOP has in the last 4 years, we would consider ourselves at war with them.”

The patterns over the past 6 years clearly parallel the strategies the GOP used during the 8 years of the Clinton White House. But the American people obviously supported both the Clinton's and what they were able to accomplish while they ran the White House.

We can only hope that the American people will support the Obama White House AND the solutions they are placing into operation for the good of the country.

When Senator McCain torpedoes the White House and the Pentagon for his narrow political gain, then one wonders when charges of treason ought to be leveled against McCain? And his pals in the GOP Senate minority?

I think the American people understand what’s going on. I think they realize republican conservatives are at it again. They call the kettle black when they really mean to slur the President. It’s a cheap game they play. We all struggled with racism in the 60’s and 70’s. That struggle is behind us for the most part. And rights for women and gays as well. And elderly people, to boot.

What side of history are the republicans on? Where do they stand on these issues? Are they really willing to sell out principle for political shenanigans?

Fall elections are upon us. A clear majority for Democrats in the Senate of 60% would help refocus the nation’s attention on solving problems, not gaming them.

And a return to democratic control of the House would help do the same.

It’s about time we voters redressed these issues. Please understand the issues and vote for people in the House and Senate that will responsibly handle these issues.

The Boehner years need to be put to rest. Help make that a reality this fall.

Thank you!
