Senate Control

The Rev. Warnock won his US Senate seat in Georgia. Current incumbent Loeffler has her re-election. Ossoff was also victorious over incumbent Perdue in Georgia. That means the Senate will be tied with 50 seats each for Democrat and Republican parties.

Mitch McConnell will not have control of the Senate. Instead, all tied votes will be settled by the Vice President, Kamala Harris, a Democrat. Most likely outcome will be a vote for the side of Democrats in such instances.

This further means President Elect Joe Biden will have the opportunity to build bridges to normalcy in a cooperative Congressional environment. No guarantees, but the opportunity. In such instances cooperation and collaboration are possible.

The window of opportunity is two years. The next election will involve the entire House of Representatives and one third of the Senate seats. It is vital for Democrats to continue to fight for every seat up for election to cement their majority position in both the House and then the Senate. The margin is razor thin.

This fight is needed if compromise is to return to Congress. Overwhelming control of either or both houses is not healthy. Checks and Balances provided in the US Constitution require vigorous debate and compromise to properly govern the nation. That feature has been absent for many years. The result has been chaos and power grabs that has undermined stability of the nation.

We have a fresh start to bringing sanity and order back to what used to be institutions of character and honor. Please. Let this happen. Many issues of vast importance need serious handling to safeguard the common good of the People.
