Leo Buscaglia was a well-read author on motivational themes.
He was a speaker with a huge following thanks to PBS specials. He was known as
Dr. Love. And he was in turn loved. He died at 74 years of age in 1998. One of
his quotes has stuck with me:
“Only
the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.”
Think of bullies. They are not strong. They are weak and
need to feel power over others. So they pick on those weaker still and lord it
over them. They turn ugly, cruel, nasty. And we cower in the face of such
perfidy.
Those who accomplish things, even great things, are calm,
peaceful and gentle. They are strong. They are not cruel. They do not need to
be.
Power is not of me or you. It is of us all working together
on common goals.
All in all this is a good thought to think upon this
weekend. Enjoy!
